Abstract
The GHA70A p-xylene (PX) tanker is often nagged by large steam consumption and long heating time during unloading while heating. In this regard, field tests are conducted on different heating methods and conditions of the tanker, and effects of such heating methods are compared. Then, the reasonable heating method and inlet steam pressure are determined. In field application, considering the PX crystallization degree and climatic conditions at the storage location where the tanker is unloaded, single-tube or dual-tube heating method is used appropriately, and reversing is adopted in the heating process to effectively reduce the steam consumption. In order to reduce the heating time and steam consumption, the inlet steam pressure should be not less than 0.30 MPa, but selected depending on the crystallization degree. For example, it can be set at about 0.30 MPa in autumn and early spring, and at about 0.45 MPa in winter.
