Differences analysis in station design of gas pipelines in Central Asia and China

  • To further improve the station design of gas pipelines in Central Asia and China, 3 representative design cases (configuration of inlet and outlet ESD valves, by-pass pipeline and pigging facilities at of compressor station, configuration of vent stack in compressor station, and sewage collection system in pigging station/district) are analyzed for their differences from the aspects of design specifications and general practices. Their advantages and disadvantages are pointed out. The results show that, the security of inlet and outlet ESD valves, by-pass pipeline and pigging facilities at the compressor station in Central Asia case is higher, and the inlet and outlet ESD valves are set at a more reasonable position but they can not be managed uniformly; the height and structural design of vent stack in China case are superior to the Central Asia case; the pigging sewage collection system of Central Asia case is more capable and flexible, but the collection procedure is relatively complex with high operational risk.
