Calculation and influencing factors of temperature field in LNG tank

  • In order to accurately calculate the temperature field of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tank under different working conditions, the temperature field numerical calculation model for full-containment LNG tank is established with ANSYS software to calculate the distribution of temperature field in the tank under steady-state conditions. Based on the calculation result, the influences of ambient temperature, liquid level and convective heat-transfer coefficient on distribution of temperature field in tank are analyzed. Simulation results show that the ambient temperature has great effect on heat leakage of tank wall, ambient wind velocity has great influence on heat leakage of tank roof, liquid level has some influence on heat leakage of tank wall and tank bottom, and ambient wind velocity has little effect on heat leakage of the whole tank. The results can provide a reference for the design and optimization of full-containment LNG tank.
