Installation of pipeline in heavy-gradient tunnel

  • In a heavy-gradient tunnel, it is difficult to convey and install pipes along the slope. Through several simulation tests, the multi-functional pipe conveyance paired trolley is developed, which is operated by a remote control device. The hydraulic lift is capable of horizontal and vertical adjustment, accommodating to laying, removal and pairing of pipes in tunnel. Therefore, the trolley helps to tackle the technical challenges in pipeline installation in heavy-gradient tunnel. This paper introduces how this method is used. With this method, the project of pipeline installation in Miling 1# tunnel, the 28th section of the east section of 2nd West-to-East Gas Pipeline was completed, 16 days ahead of the schedule. Compared with traditional construction methods, this method can effectively reduce the construction period and cost, providing a guideline to the similar pipeline installation in tunnel.
