Kent risk assessment model of subsea pipeline

  • Subsea pipeline integrity management is conducted to ensure the pipeline safety and reliability, which is extremely important for the environment and production safety offshore. Risk assessment, as the core of subsea pipeline integrity management, is the premise and foundation to realize risk prevention management. Based on the principles of Kent method, and combined with the actual situation of subsea pipeline management in China, risk factors for subsea pipelines are divided into five categories, the third-party damage and mechanical damage, corrosion and erosion, structure and design, maloperation, and natural and geological disasters. A risk assessment system with 73 indicators is designed, and the semi-quantitative risk assessment model of subsea pipeline is established, which laid the foundation for the subsea pipeline integrity management.
