Quality control of reinforced thermoplastic pipe in site construction

  • As a new high-pressure plastic compound pipe, reinforced thermoplastic pipe (RTP) is longer, lighter, and more flexible and operable, with higher corrosion resistance and strength, than steel pipe. It can be used for transporting crude oil, product oil, natural gas and so on, especially applicable for complex terrain regions such as oilfield. To discuss the quality control of RTP in site construction, an aromatic fiber reinforced plastic pipe with mechanically-extruded connection used as the gathering pipeline between the well site of Iraq Maysan Oilfield and degas station is taken as an example. Depending on field conditions, some critical processes are controlled, such as lifting, transportation protection, extruded connection between pipe end and joint, laying of pipe, and pressure, which effectively ensure the construction quality on site and provide a reference to the promotion and application of this new pipe.
