Quality control in the field coating for weld joint for long-distance oil and gas pipelines

  • Polyethylene heat shrinking tape (sleeve) is widely used as field coating for weld joint for long-distance buried pipelines. It is pasted onto the pipes with 3PE coating or epoxy power coating on site. In this paper, the process for the field coating for weld joint, performance indexes, technical requirements, common quality problems and precautions are introduced to provide a reference to the anti-corrosion of long-distance gas pipelines, for purpose of effectively improving the quality in the field coating for weld joint and ensure the normal and safe operation of the pipelines.
