Optimal control strategies in scheduling of oil pipeline

  • In order to control the operation of pipeline safely and steadily, the strategies of effective control, minimum operation fluctuations and minimum throttling along the pipeline should be adopted in the scheduling of long-distance pipeline. This paper expounds on the significance of each strategy. In particular, the effective control strategy is to keep the pipeline system be controlled effectively by appropriately regulating the inlet or outlet pressure setting of input and output terminals stations, pipeline system is in a state of being effectively controlled; the operation with minimum operation fluctuations control strategy is to minimize the fluctuations of the pressure and flow along the pipeline if possible; the minimum throttling strategy is to minimize the energy waste along the pipeline. Some control methods are showed as reference for actual scheduling process, and a mathematical model is presented as to the control objective of the minimum throttling along the pipeline. These optimal strategies can effectively guide the control operation of central dispatcher and improve the ability of safe, steady and efficient control.
