Remote diagnosis by ultrasonic flowmeter for China-Uzbekistan Gas Pipeline

  • China-Uzbekistan Gas Pipeline involves in multinational cross-border metering. In order to improve the accuracy and service life of the meters, a remote diagnosis system (CBM) of ultrasonic flowmeter is installed at the initial and terminal stations in Uzbekistan. With the CBM hardware and software, the remote sonic velocity of the ultrasonic flowmeter is verified, and the gain, signal quality and other parameters are confirmed. In this way, the intended target is realized. Meanwhile, the maintenance cost for repeated installation and maintenance and the time cost of gas production are reduced. The practice provides a reference to the fault analysis of process and metering during gas transportation. Accordingly, the metering management is improved and valuable lessons are learnt for metering management of cross-border long-distance natural gas pipelines.
