Progress in technique research on modern field coating for weld joint of oil and gas pipelines

  • The field coating for weld joint is an important part of oil and gas pipeline coating system. It has become a guarantee of pipeline's life and safety. This paper provides an overview of the researches and applications of modern field coating for weld joint techniques, and analyzes the materials, technical features and quality control thereof, as well as the latest techniques. Weakness in the field coating for weld joint technique in China is pointed out. Finally, it is proposed that the future field coating for weld joint technique with environment-friendly materials, simple operation and high automation are expected.
