Application status and improved method of 5S management in pipeline construction

5S management is a method to enhance the quality of working environment, improve the staff working state, especially the work efficiency and staff enthusiasm by managing and optimizing the staff, machine, material, method, environment and other aspects. At present, 5S management concept has been introduced into the engineering management of West-to-East Gas Pipeline, resulting in a certain improvement in working environment, and full play of the staff activeness. But some deficiencies like weak enforcement and low control efficiency exist in the implementation process. In view of the issues found in the course of implementation of 5S management, improving measures and corresponding rules in detail like enhancing QHSE divisional management, clearing job responsibility, clarifying reward and penalty system and trying out activities are proposed, which will provide a reference to the widespread application of 5S management method in future pipeline construction.
