A type of anti-freezing Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode applied to frozen soil region

  • In view of the problems that existing Cu/CuSO4 and Zn reference electrodes can't keep stable reference potential at low temperature and are subjected to serious environmental pollution, a type of anti-freezing Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode applied to frozen soil region has been developed. Compared with traditional Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode, the anti-freezing Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode has innovations in material and structure of tanks and antifreeze liquid electrolyte. The electrode, not sensitive to external interference, continuously fluid replaceable, has long lifespan, rational structure, and convenience in application etc. advantages. Measuring the potential of X65 reacting with Zn electrode, general Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode and anti-freezing Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode at different temperatures in laboratory, the results show that the potential change of anti-freezing Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode is only 73 mV at -20℃ to 20℃ compared with common reference electrode. Using Nernst equation to calculate the potential difference of anti-freezing reference electrode at different temperatures, the calculated value and the field measured value match well.
