Analysis on complex stress exerted on settled pipeline under the effect of pipe soil contact

  • Site settlement is one of the major reasons causing damage to buried pipelines. Pipe-soil interaction model undersettlement was built by using the semi-infinite yield theory of pipeline and soil contact. Taking the soil and pipeline weightas a load, the pipeline stress under the combined effect of settlement area length, pipe wall thickness, internal pressure, pipe diameter, soil friction factor, and pipeline burial depth was calculated, its effect on pipeline Mises stress was analyzed, and the pipeline safety was evaluated. Case study shows that this method can simulate the process of pipeline damageaccurately, providing a theoretical basis to the numerical simulation of buried pipeline in sinking area.
