Optimization of the control logic for pressure maintenance by shut-down of compressor units

  • In consideration of the shaft seal form and the strategies and risks of the pressure maintenance by shut-down oftwo SOLAR TITAN 130/C453 gas turbine/centrifugal compressor units in WKC1 Initial Compressor Station of the Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline, this paper reviews the program of compressor unit shut-down for pressure maintenance, the programof sealed gas supply and the interlocking equipment, and presents the optimization strategies for pressure maintenance byshut-down of the compressor units. Based on the strategies, the problems of short pressure maintenance, slow starting, fastwear and tear of the accessory equipment and large energy consumption of natural gas venting encountered in the standbySOLAR are solved effectively without any additional investment. The optimized system reduces the starting time of thestandby unit to ensure its normal operation, mitigates the negative impacts on the upstream gas sources in Turkmenistan, and minimizes the energy loss when the compressor units are shut down and the energy consumption during production.
