Abstract
Domestic and foreign design standards for gas pipeline venting system are analyzed in detail. Domestic and foreign safety clearances from venting pipes and flares to stations and valve chambers all are determined by calculations of radiant heat with reference to the API 521. China specifies the requirements on minimum fire separation of flares possibly with flammable liquids. Domestic and foreign design calculations of station flare systems all are carried out by two methods provided in the API 521. Relevant suggestions are proposed that with respect to calculations of venting amount, existing domestic standards should be revised to provide corresponding venting time and pressure, design concepts of the venting system should be unified and calculation methods and control measures of the venting volume should also be defined. Under the premise of complying with national and local laws and regulations, venting risers and reduction of flare systems should be reduced in use of. It is necessary to follow up API/ANSI 521-2007 (ISO 23257:2008 (IDT)) and API/ANSI 537-2008 (ISO 24257:2008 (IDT)) to update domestic standards simultaneously.
