Steady state vs dynamic rheology measurement of gel crude oil

  • Taking the Chad and Daqing Crude oils as an example, dynamic frequency scanning and steady-state rate scanning experiments for gel crude oil at low temperature are taken as a basis and Cox-Merz empirical formula is drawn to obtain the empirical correlation between the absolute complex viscosity and apparent viscosity of crude oil through analysis and further deduce the empirical correlation representing absolute complex modulus and steady-state shear stress. Verification experiment results indicate that the above empirical correlations are provided with high accuracy to effectively link the linear viscoelastic measurement and nonlinear measurement. It is thus clear that, research of correlation between rheological parameters of gel crude oil in different measurement modes can provide new methods and ideas to theoretical research of crude oil rheology.
