Waste heat utilization from compressor station of gas pipeline

  • Waste heat utilization from compressor stations of gas pipeline is an important means to improve pipeline operating level and energy saving and efficiency increase. In fuel-driven compressor station, the waste heat utilization can be achieved based on heat, electricity and machinery. This paper analyzes the utilization plans of waste heat in compressor station which are relatively mature or have great application potential, such as waste heat recovery boilers of gas turbine, gas turbine regenerative cycle, steam Rankine cycle, organic Rankine cycle, gas turbine inlet air cooling. Each plan has many application cases, but also has its limitations. Organic Rankine cycle is more mature and uses organic media, with better application prospects. Lithium bromide absorption refrigeration technology can use waste heat from gas turbine for refrigeration to improve the gas efficiency, and now is only applied in gas turbine power plants, but it can also be used in gas compressor stations. It is pointed out that when selecting waste heat recovery plans, a comprehensive assessment combined with existing conditions of gas compressor stations, unit performance, and operating mode and other factors should be carried out, this has certain significance for next stage reconstruction and construction of pipeline using waste heat in gas compression station.
