Inertial surveying internal detection method and its application in oil and gas pipeline

  • Pipeline integrity management is an important means of ensuring pipeline safety and economic operations, and the parameters of pipeline position are important basic data for pipeline integrity the management. Inertial surveying internal detection technology for oil and gas pipeline takes the inertial measuring unit (IMU), composed of 3D orthogonal gyroscopes and accelerometers, as the main measurement equipment and uses ground GPS reference points and mileage data to modify position and speed to precisely survey coordinates of the pipeline center line so as to achieve digitization and visualization of pipeline management. By means of high-precision center line coordinate parameters obtained, the bending strain of pipeline caused by environmental factors can be effectively identified and evaluated. Via a combination of defect parameters and pipeline center line coordinates, precise positioning of defects can be realized to generate engineering drawing for the maintenance of pipeline defects.
