Throughput increase and energy saving practices of Dushanzi-Urumqi Products Pipeline

  • Dushanzi-Urumchi Refined Oil Pipeline is operated under the design throughput of 520×104 t/yr after online commercial trial to reducedrag. If DRA at 5 mg/kg is injected in initial pump station, the pipeline can be operated at "1 pump-whole line" mode with average flowrate increases of 200 m3/h. If the concentration of DRA is at 10 mg/kg, the average flowrate increases up to 260 m3/h under the same running mode, which will cut down the running costs of Dafeng Pumping Station at the same time. By calculation, it will not be economical if DRA is over 15 mg/kg. Therefore, it is subject to limited potentials to increase throughput to more than 520×104 t/yr by increasing DRA's concentration. The flowrate of the pipeline can be improved to 630×104 t/yr by starting 2 feed pumps and 2 pumps in initial station, starting 2 pumps in Dafeng Station and injecting DRA at both stations.
