Impacting Factors and Solution Method for Energy Saving of Hot Oil Transportation Pipelines

  • China domestic crude oil.which is commonly referred as "high pour point, high wax.high viscosity" crude oil.is normally transported with heating. Therefore the energy consumption is very large and there exists a difficulty to restart the pipeline after its shutting down. The optimal operation condition for a hot oil transportation pipeline stands for a condition which ensures the pipeline 's safety operation, successful restart after its shutting down and minimal energy consumption or the least energy consumption.Decreasing the station inlet temperature is a fundamental way to cut down energy consumption for hot oil transportation pipeline. The computation equation for decreasing the energy consumption is given.Further the impacting factors are also listed:the inlet temperature of station, throughput, the environment temperature the soil temperature at the depth of the buried pipeline, heat capacity of the crude, and the system parameter of the pipeline.According to the minimum allowed inlet temperature of station written in the code, the method for decreasing the inlet temperature of station is proposed for different cases. There are in total three key temperature points for the inlet temperature of station for the hot oil transportation pipeline.TjN, which refers to the inlet temperature of station for the minimum energy consumption, Tjy which refers to the minimum inlet temperature of station for safety operation, Tjq which refers to the minimum inlet temperature of station for successful restart after the pipeline shutting down. The biggest among these three are thus chosen as the optimal inlet temperature of station
