Corrosivity of Sour Crude on Oil Pipelines

  • Based on component analysis and corrosivity evaluation on 7 kinds of imported crude oils produced from different regions with different sulfur contents, the corrosion behavior of these 7 kinds of sour crude on 16Mn pipe steel is analyzed under the condition of simulated corrosion environment of oil pipeline in laboratory.The experimental research results show that active sulfur content is the uppermost factor on crude's corrosivity; corrosivity on the sensitivity of temperature is related to the content of active sulfur which accounts for total sulfur; the higher the temperature is, the more the active sulfur content has, and the stronger the corrosivity of crude oil is.It is considered that the research findings are of instructive significance in service life prediction of corroded pipeline.
