Failure Analysis of Underground Salt Cavern Gas Storage and Countermeasures

The failure conception of underground salt cavern gas storage is stated.Leakage and lower deliverability of underground salt cavern gas storage served as two failure modes are determined.Failure accidents of underground salt cavern gas storages at home and abroad are reviewed, failure causes are analyzed and summarized, and causes in casing failure and salt creep as main failure caused are analyzed in detail.Countermeasures against failure of underground salt cavern gas storage are proposed, including regular detection to injection-withdrawal well, cementation state between casing and cement, monitoring dynamic parameters about the injection withdrawal well and improving management procedure of operation data, predicting cavern closure rate, setting the monitoring well between facilities of gas storage and city.
