Failure Analysis on Crude Oil Transfer Pumps at CEPA Platform and Treatments

Concept of cavitation and parameters on NPSH(net positive suction head)are introduced and analysis is carried out on reasons resulting from caviation in crude oil transfer pumps at CEPA platform.It is pointed out that the cavitation is a major reason for unstable operation phenomena occurred in the transfer pump such as oscillation and noise.The paper covers a method to solve the issue of pump caviation from two aspects including a scheme treating the pump unit itself and improvement on suction status of the transfer pump, which provides a reference for the pumps of other platforms in caviation fault elimination.
