Abstract
The beded salt of Pingdingshan salt mine located in Wuyang depression, Henan Province, is mainly on the top of He-3 and He-1 group of Eogene system. The depth of salt layer is moderate, and salt layer is thick and stable, which distributes over large area, so geological conditions of the salt mine is suitable for salt cavern storage construction. The depositional center of the salt mine is the best block for storage construction and working gas capacity is more than 140 × 108 m3.According to salt layers characteristics.geometric volume of a single cavern would be 43 × 104 m3 and effective volume is 23×104 m3.Cavern leaching simulation analysis result based on geological characteristics shows that construction cycle for a single cavern needs more than 1 200 days.According to local brine handling capacity, it will cost 10 to 12 years to construct the storage and its working gas capacity is more than 14 × 108 m3.As the gas storage is in the Central China, it can provide emergency supply for the 1st and the 2nd West-East Gas Pipelines and works as peak-shaving service for Hubei and Henan provinces.
