Research on Mechanical Characteristics of Wax Deposition in Hot Oil Pipelines

  • Form and composition of wax deposition in hot oil pipeline are studied and two dimensional stress of wax deposition's infinitesimal in climbing pipeline around its shut-down is analyzed. After climbing pipeline shuts down, stress of wax deposition is at imbalance, and with the extension of shut-down time, structure of wax deposition is destroyed and drifts to low side of pipelineand aggregates together by the action of gravity difference function, which makes restart-up of pipeline difficult. Therefore, in order to keep wax deposition layer at critical thickness for the hot oil pipeline operated at low throughput, regular pigging must be carried out so as to reduce operation risk during pipeline shut-down and restart-up process.
