Asphaltene Deposition Mechanism and Prediction Model for Piped Crude Oil

  • The paper describes the process of asphaltene deposition, summarizes the models of asphaltene precipitation, flocculation and deposition under static condition and indicates the precision and applicability of these models. In multiphase pipeline flow, the flow patterns change during flow process, and asphaltene deposition is closely related to the system temperature, pressure and oil composition and they affect each other. As a result, different from static deposition and single phase oil pipeline, the asphaltene deposition in multiphase pipeline flow needs to take into account the effect of dynamic multi-scale deposition process and variation of flow pattern on asphaltene deposition.Issues in application of the static asphaltene deposition models to multiphase pipeline flow are further analyzed.
