Abstract
Batch pipelining crude oils with different outlet temperature is a new technology of crude oil transportation. In this paper, a mathematical model is established to investigate the restart process of this transportation after its shutdown. A finite volume scheme combined with a finite difference method is used to discretize the governing equation. The developed software can compute the transient oil temperature, pressure, and flow rate recovering process. The effects of different shutdown time on the recovering process are studied. The research outcome can be used to guide the safely batch pipelining crude oils with different outlet temperature.
