Analysis of Severe Slug Flow in Subsea Oil-gas Multiphase Pipelines

An analysis of severe slug flow in oil-gas multiphase riser is made. In the paper, some empirical formulas to forecast it are provided and several measures to control and eliminate it are put forward. Riser-base gas lift methods presented in the paper is considered as one of the more effective control methods, and based on the method, it is proposed that improving gas injection rate will realize effective control of the severe slug flow segment.
