Theoretical Study on the Duration of Hydrostatic Test of Pipeline

  • Taking an idealized leaking point in pipeline as a leaking hole, a mathematic model to determine theduration of pressure testing is established based on hydrodynamics principle.One pipeline section inWest-East Gas Pipeline is taken as a computing target, a calculation is carried out making use of the model.Calculation results show that the duration of hydrostatic testing is closely related to the pipe capacity andgas volume in the pipe, and the duration for gas medium varies with the internal pressure and capacity ofthe pipe.A recommended duration of hydrostatic testing is determined based on the calculation results.
