Status quo for External Coating Inspection of Submarine Pipelines

  • The purpose of conducting periodical pipeline coating inspection over submarine pipelines is to ensure its safe operation and prevent oceanic environment pollution due to leakage. Submarine pipeline coating inspections can be classified as the inspection before startup, periodic inspection and special inspection according to different inspection periods, different inspection parts and requirements. The application of current gradient inspection technique and most advanced atomic energy pigging tools in this field are discussed in this article.
