Swamp Pipe-laying Technique of Sino-Kazakhstan Oil Pipeline

  • This paper introduces the swamp pipeline construction course of Sino-Kazakhstan Oil Pipeline. Atasu-Alashankou Oil Pipeline, the first phase project of Sino-Kazakhstan Oil Pipeline, is 9622km in total length, approximately 960km in Kazakhstan, which will cross over the swampland around Ayaguz River and Tentek River. The swamp oil pipeline construction technique is as follows: (1) build up cofferdam on both sides of the pipe ditch (50 m-wide) to block off water; (2) install saddle weight al every 6 m interval and (3) lower down the welded pipe every 3000 m in length. The authors consider that the experience in swampland pipeline construction is valuable for similar pipeline project.
