Process and Quality Control Techniques for the Push Pipe Method in Long Distance Pipeline Construction

  • This article summarizes the problems existed in the push pipe method applied in West to East Gas Transmission Pipeline Project and other pipeline projects. Based on relative standards and/or codes and construction experiences, analysis and discussion are carried out from influence factors (deformation and settlement of ground surface, survey error of pipe pushing, material defects including the class and quality of concrete, concrete reinforcing bar, pipe quality etc.) to construction quality of the push pipe method. The author considers that strengthening process control of construction and rational applying the pipe pushing method can effectively minimize hidden perils and avoid construction accidents.
