Technical Problems of Pipeline Construction in Permafrost Regions

This article introduces the status quo of engineering and technology of foreign pipelines in permafrost regions, and puts forward the relative countermeasures for the construction of pipelines in the regions in allusion to the frost heaving and thaw settlement of country rock and soil along the pipeline route. Take the Gelmud-Lhasa Product Oil Pipeline as an example, the authors study and discuss some technical problems about pipeline construction in the permafrost region, including pipe laying methods to be selected, cathodic protection technology, weather and environment variation along pipeline route and environment control of pipeline route.
