Study on the Mechanism of High Polymer to Reduce Drag and Increase Throughput

  • On the basis of theory study and turbulent experiment and starting from boosting flowrate depending on the flowrate gradient, the authors discover in the experiment that the mechanism of high polymer to reduce drag and increase throughput lies in effective suppression the radial flowing of fluid at the pipe wall. This discovery rationally explains the puzzled phenomena during the high polymer experiment in many years. Through this experiment, the variation law of drag reduction rate as Reynolds number, wall roughness and different injection volume of high polymer is discovered. The authors provide the correlation the best Reynolds number with pipe diameter and kinematic viscosity, and put forward concrete suggestions on development and application of high polymer.
