Calculation for Axial Temperature Drop on Crude Oil Pipeline by Prediction-Correlation Method

  • The axial temperature drop on crude pipeline is studied when it is running in gear. Crude pipeline nearly is buried, moreover the long distance, many factors affect the temperature drop, some factors change with time and distance, so it is difficult to calculate the axial temperature drop on crude pipeline. This paper considers each influence factor of axial temperature drop on crude pipeline and physic parameter of oil (density, specific heat capacity and viscosity) and total heat transfer coefficient changing with temperature. The mathematical model is established on axial temperature drop when buried crude pipeline in running in gear. The model is suitable to the pipeline with in-or-out branch lines. The prediction-correlation method is used to solve the mathematical model. A comparison is carried out on conventional calculation methods and the result of the model shows a better reading, close to the fact.
