The Importance of Frozen Soil District Survey in Pipeline Design

This paper analyzes the influence of frozen soil, foundation freezing and thawing on pipeline, describes the importance of pipeline survey in frozen soil district and introduces the steps and methods of pipeline survey in frozen soil district. It is pointed out that different from the ordinary pipeline, the pipeline survey in frozen soil district is at heavy testing and high accuracy in geological survey with more indexes to be evaluated and determined, also including long survey period and special limitation in survey time and method. The authors suggest that the best survey period is from April to May for frozen depth and October from November for thawing depth.
