Technology of Digital Pipeline and its Application

The theory of "digital earth" was created in 1998 and its concept is almost adopted in different fields in the world. The digital pipeline is from the concept of "digital earth". This paper describes the general information and systems that the digital pipeline covers, discusses the 4S technology and system structure to constitute the digital pipeline. It is pointed out that to constitute digital pipeline is the only way for developing oil and gas pipeline industry of China in nowadays information society.
