The Technical Status Quo and Disparities in China's Pipeline Coating Industry

The application status quo of pipeline coatings in different stages and development tendency of pipeline coatings at home and abroad are described. The authors present four new techniques for the field coating for welded joint with polyolefins, liquid epoxide/polyurethane, butt fusion joint and 3PP. The comprehensive analysis on the performances and requirements of pipeline coatings and selection of coatings is made on the basis of experimental evaluation and field examination results. It is pointed out that although the standardization of pipeline coating production and several parameters have already met foreign relative standards and codes, the disparity still can be seen in design, application, material, design scenario and the field coating for welded joint technique compared with foreign technology.
