  • Gas hydrate technology is being developed for the storage of natural gas in the world.Methane hydrate formation is studied in aqueous surfactant solutions.Micellar surfaetant solutions are found to increase methane hydrate formation rate in a quiescent system and improve methane storage capacity in hydrates.162.63 V/V methane storage capacity in hydrates is achieved in aqueous 300 ppm SDS solutions at the conditions of 5.54 MPa and 274.05 K (90% of the theoretical hydrocarbon gas capacity of hydrates).
