The Reason of Fire and Explosion Accidents Occurring in Sulfur-containing Petroleum Tanks

  • Corrosion in petroleum tanks caused by active sulfur in low temperature conditions is described in detail, and the course of oxidation of the product of corrosion, iron sulfide is investigated in adiabatic condition. The authors analyze the formation of flammable and volatile environment, explain the reason of fire and explosion accidents occurring in sulfur-containing petroleum tanks according to the experiment in the paper.
