Design of Large-sized Spherical Tanks and Selection of Steel Plate

This paper briefly reviews the development history of steel spherical storage tanks, analyzes the present situation of construction technology of domestic spherical storage tanks and the gap from foreign countries. The material selection, structural scheme and construction technology of large-sized spherical tanks to be used in West-to-East Gas Project are investigated. Two available steel material selection schemes for large-sized spherical tanks are presented.
