Study on Safety Management System of Corroded Pipeline

  • Based on the domestic and foreign standards, the safety management system of corroded pipeline is studied, which has three hierarchical, namely: probability assessment, risk assessment and integrity management. The corroded pipeline has less probability than the original pipe with levels depending on the size and properties of corrosion flaws. The threshold values of intensities and thickness are used as indexes to assess the probability of corroded pipeline, respectively for cracking-like flaws and volumetric type flaws. Risk is a synthetic index in consideration of the probabilities and consequences of failures. The risk assessment with its target, contents, principle, and so on, is introduced. In addition, methods of the weighting scores and the criticality matrix for risk assessment are sampled according to the popular guidelines to obtain the messages about the most hazardous locations and the most possible failure cause. According to these messages, the integrity assessment plans could be worked out for whole pipelines. In this paper, the elemental frame, contents and methods of integrity assessment are introduced. The integrity detection and assessment methods are discussed in detail.
