The Application of NATM Tunnel Method in Zhongxian—Wuhan Gas Transmission Pipeline Crossing

  • Zhongxian gas transmission pipeline will cross through the Sanxia Reservoir Zone of Yangtze River, which makes the design and construction of pipeline crossing very difficult.Three scenarios of pipelinecrossing are presented and compared, that is, open cut, NATM tunnel method and shield-driven tunnel.The NATM tunnel method is determined with reliability in technology and low engineering cost.In the article, the key design and construction requirements in water-protection in the river bed are described.
