The Application of Cellular Confinement System in Anti-Hydraulic Erosion of Long Distance Pipeline

  • This paper describes the erosion mechanism of slope and threat to pipelines. To overcome the drawbacks existed in the conventional slope protections, the cellular confinement system is introduced to use. The specification and performance of this system are given. On the basis of soil-fixing and anti-erosion, a new type cellular confinement system is provided. Being practical, environment protective and cost-effective, such type has found application in the construction of Sebei-Xi'ning-Lanzhou Gas Transmission Pipeline and proved to be a success. It provides good experience to the future construction of long distance pipelines.
