On Peak Shaving and Stable Gas Supply and Demand for City Gas

  • The supply of city gas is characterized by disequilibrium in hour, day and month. Therefore, the long distance gas pipeline must be designed with a certain ability in pressure adjustment, that is, in peak shaving. The authors present six peak shaving methods, that is, final section line-packing, above-ground gas tank, underground gas storage, LNG peak shaving plant, underground bundled tubes and other peak shaving technique. The comparison on the six methods is made to expound the advantages and shortcomings between them. The measures and suggestions to make peak shaving and to ensure stable gas supply and demand for city gas are given in the paper.
