The Application of Magnescan HR in Gas Transmission Pipeline

Daxian—Wolonghe Gas Transmission Pipeline to transmit wet natural gas (H₂S content is approximately 4.0 g/m³), with a total length of 145 km, located at Sichuan Province, put into operation in 1986. Duo to serious corrosion, leaks were found at 26 locations in the pipeline. To inhibit the corrosion, the Magnescan HR technology introduced is used to the corroded pipeline. By means of analysis of inspection parameters, the confidence level, economic evaluation and inability of this technology as well as the suggestions in inhibiting corrosion of the pipeline are put forward.
