Study on the Relation between DR of Polymer and Molecular Weight

  • Molecular weight of polymer is one of the several influence factors upon drag-reduction performance of polymer. Two foreign DRAs, poly-alpha-olefin homopolymer and copolymer synthesized, have been circular loop tested and GPC analyzed. The influence of the regularity of polymer molecular weight upon DR performance has been studied. The test and study results indicate that DR of copolymer is better than homopolymer with same molecular weight and DR of homopolymer with same molecular weight decreases as length of side chain increases.
