Alliance Pipeline Project and its Valuable Experience in Engineering

In this paper, the whole work process in preliminary study, construction and commissionning of Alliance Pipeline is introduced, including corresponding researches in gas source, marketing, relative technologies to be needed and environmental effects, proceedings in the financing and commitments, acquiring land agreements, certificate of public convenience and necessity and preliminary firm shipping commitments, as well as practice in construction and protection of pipeline. The authors consider that four valuable experiences from Alliance Pipeline are worth reference for our pipeline management departments, that is, increasing transfer efficiency of pipeline with high pressure and rich gas transportation; scientific power arrangement for compressor stations; full and effective project preparation and decreasing capital risk with effective financing mechanism.
