Experiment and Research on the Shut-down and Restart in Cainan-Shixi Oil Pipeline

Based on the study of the rheological properties of oil and the simulation of the shut-down and restart-up process, an experiment was successfully conducted in Cainan-Shixi oil pipeline. The authors introduced the process of the shut-down and restart-up experiment and compared the data from the simulation with that from experiment in pipeline. The comparison indicates that the simulation quite agrees with the experiment. Some suggestions concerning the operation and safety of the pipeline are raised in the paper.
