Assessment on Residual Strength of Dongying——Huangdao Old Oil Pipeline

The assessment of residual strength of pipeline is one of the important work of corrosion control for pipeline. Taken Dongying——Huangdao old oil pipeline as an example, two assessment methods on pipeline residual strength used in U.S.A. and China and their application in the shutdown (in July of 1986) and restart (in September of 1998)of the old pipeline are introduced with these methods. The analysis and calculation on operational pressure of the pipeline were carried out, then the residual strength of the old line was determined. It is considered that the assessment results can be used as a scientific foundation to reasonably work out a safe operation scenario for the pipelines like Dongying——Huangdao old oil pipeline.
